The Wiccan threefold law is the basic principle that most Wiccan’s and spellcaster’s abide by. It is related to the use of power and energy, as in whatever you send out come back three times stronger. This is the reason that most people cast only positive spells that harm none. You don’t want a negative spell coming back three times stronger.

The threefold law is used in relation to “Do what thy wilt, though it harm none” taken from the Wiccan Rede.
It is best to take care when preparing for and casting spells that it doesn’t harm anyone, even unintentionally.
You may be able to understand this better when you consider the cause and effect of a spell.
Positive Threefold Law
I’ll give you an example.
Let’s say someone comes to you unhappy and with a problem. you help them by lighting a candle as a reminder of the problems and sending out positive thoughts, the problem goes away for your friend. Aside from making you feel good about yourself, you have also sent a huge dose of positivity out into the world, increasing your own positive thoughts, which in turn leads to positive energies being returned.
The result of this shift in energy is based on the brain, the brain controls your positive or negative emotions, this positivity in the brain then sends the message to release secretions that enter your bloodstream resulting in physical positiveness.
Thus with the act of a single good deed, you have been effected three times, in mind, body, and spirit. This then is your three-fold response to the return of positive energy. Now consider the response had you sent out negative energy?
Negative Threefold law
The same applies in the reverse. Let’s say the same friend comes to you with a problem that is being caused by their Mother, you decide to cast a spell to make the Mother unwell so that she can’t visit your friend to harass her for a while.
We have already established the effect of positive energy on your body, mind and spirit. Particularly when it is returned threefold.
The effect of the above spell could be catastrophic. By sending out a dose of negative energy your brain responds in a negative fashion and the universe will send an extra dose of negativity your way, including the possible direct result of making you ill. What could this mean for you, time of work, away from your family, long recovery time.
I know people do cast negative spells and I do have a few posts scheduled relating to them, however, I don’t and won’t cast them myself, and I strongly recommend you don’t either.
I know the next obvious question is “Well why create posts about them?” and the answer is simple. I believe education is power. Knowing what you are dealing with arms you for protection.
